Course Description:

Most criminal activity happens during the hours after sundown but it does not necessarily mean that it will happen only in low light conditions. Many locations after dark are well lit, but this does not always deter the motivated criminal. What this doesn't mean, however, is that you will encounter a criminal threat only after sundown. The reality is criminals use low light conditions to conceal their actions and lay in wait no matter the time. Low light conditions exist in almost all environments and during all times of the day. During a major emergency or active response situation it is likely that power will have been lost and you will find yourself with perhaps only emergency lighting. This lack of lighting inhibits your ability to move quickly, reduces your safety and increases the advantage for the criminal element.

It is not just "desirable" that you train and become proficient with the use of your firearm and flashlight - it is absolutely imperative. You don't want to find yourself in the situation trying to figure things out under stress because at that point you are already behind the curve. Instead, set yourself up to be ready and prepared in that moment and take our Low Light Pistol course.

To be prepared it is critical that you understand the major concepts of moving, cornering, using cover, properly identifying, and engaging in a low light environment. You must also know how lighting conditions can work both for and against you in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment that is either in your home or in public. To accomplish this you must first understand the basic methods to properly hold and use a flashlight with your firearm.

Our goal is to get students familiar with, and confident in, using multiple techniques that work in a variety of circumstances and understanding what the pro's and con's are for each technique. You will be introduced to proper movement, cornering and cover techniques to help them navigate low light environments both in their home and out in public.

PLEASE NOTE: A minimum of 500 rounds of factory ammunition WITH AT LEAST 10 ROUNDS BEING YOUR PERSONAL PROTECTION AMMUNITION is necessary for this class.

This is a low light class focused on the proper use and deployment of a handheld flashlight. This means there will be low and no light shooting in the course.
All students are required to bring a handheld flashlight for this class even if they have a weapon mounted light. We will work both setups for this class. A flashlight with a tail cap on/off switch with momentary on is highly recommended. Side switch flashlights are fine as long as they have momentary on capabilities. Handheld lights with strobe should have a separate switch/direction from on/off. Please be your flashlights have fully charged batteries and be sure to bring extra batteries. Since our philosophy is "two equals one and one equals none" in defensive shooting, you should have a secondary flashlight with you for this class. If you do not have a weapon mounted light then be sure to bring a flashlight as described. If you are not sure please give us a call.
